The Corporate Communications Department in New York Life helps maintain and strengthen the company’s reputation, support and advance business and corporate objectives, foster our stakeholders’ connection to the company’s mission, values and strategies, and recognizes the importance and value of a data-driven mindset.

This new opening reports to the head of Content Strategy and will be integral to further move the Corporate Communications team to an insights-driven mindset across all communications channels. This role will be responsible for capturing, aggregating, and analyzing data from across multiple sources to spot trends, measure performance, and identify learnings and insight. The candidate will partner closely with the Corporate Communications Leadership Team members to provide support to source data that will inform strategic recommendations for our stakeholders both within and outside of Corporate Communications.

This role requires experience using data and analytics to inform decisions and tell a story, excellent communication skills and a track record of collaborating across teams. The ability to analyze and synthesize data and work with team members to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and provide ideas for testing and learning from new internal and external communications approaches is instrumental to the success of both the candidate and evolution of this capability within our Department.

Primary Responsibilities

Assist with leading campaign reporting and insights across Corporate Communications teams (Internal Communications, External Communications. Digital Workplace, Multimedia & Design). Create and evolve reporting dashboards to address business requirements
Suggest relevant definition and measurement metrics including creating benchmarks for consideration
Collaborate across the Communications team to assist with the identification, development, and evolution of KPIs and to provide insights driven recommendations
Provide comprehensive, detailed data analysis, data visualization and advisory support to the Communications team

Help investigate and anticipate critical business questions and opportunities and deliver insights to all levels of leadership
Assemble and organize relevant data for specific projects from an array of data sources and maintain accurate and timely delivery of reports
Monitor business and reputation goals against communications efforts and suggest shifts in direction when necessary

Research tools that might enhance our insights capabilities and partner with external partners and vendors as appropriate
Innovate procedures and initiate new projects based on needs
Potentially make recommendations around SEO keywords and SEO approach 

Required Experience

Bachelor’s Degree required 
3 Years of experience in analytics for web and social platforms; an understanding of PR measurement is helpful but not essential
Clear experience/strength with MS Excel and Adobe Analytics as well as working fluency with MS PowerPoint
Strong understanding of communication practices, including use of paid, earned, and owned channels and corresponding data sources
Strong attention to detail and a willingness to be proactive about what the data tells us
A working knowledge of SEO practices is desirable
