Job Description:
GDIT has an opportunity for a laboratory scientist associate supporting research, diagnostics, and surveillance activities for a prospective client with the CDC in Atlanta GA.
The position is located in Atlanta, Georgia.
Responsibilities:
Assist in maintenance of laboratory supplies and reagents including ordering, receiving, stock preparation and validation of reagents, solutions, and standards prior to use.
Perform routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and validation and coordination with support contract staff as needed for ongoing maintenance and advanced troubleshooting.
Routine cleaning and maintenance of laboratories including temperature monitoring, weekly cleaning, and eyewash maintenance.
Performing reagent quality checks
Occasional RT-PCR testing under CLIA regulations (diagnostic molecular methods)
Communicating with customers (e.g. local or state PHLs)
Specimen accessioning (ELIMS or other LIMS)
Maintaining team's specimen management inventory
Work under supervision to assists other research and laboratory personnel to perform routine and non-routing studies and procedures as well as other activities as required.
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, virology, immunology or related discipline
1-2 years of directly related work experience.
Knowledge of compliance with CLIA, ISO, and other industry standards and best practices for working in a regulated laboratory environment.
Familiarity with LIMS [Laboratory Information Management Systems and use of Excel software
Ability to follow safety procedures relating to handling of human samples and pathogens along with hazardous waste
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with laboratory Quality Assurance and Quality Control, equipment monitoring, inventory control documentation and protocol writing
Experience working in BSL2 or higher laboratory including use of appropriate aseptic techniques
Knowledge of laboratory and safety regulations including CLIA, ISO, and/or OSHA standards
