POSITION SUMMARY:  

This role reports directly to Corporate Health Services within the Corporate HES&S organization. This function will support and successfully deliver outcomes for case management in areas of work-related injury triage, illness, non-occupational disability (STD and LTD), FMLA, ADA, drug and alcohol/substance control, absence management, workers compensation, and medical clearance services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Provides telephonic triage and case management for injured employees and contractors throughout the organization.
Telephonically case manages Covid related illness and exposure and personal medical leaves for MPC employees and/or contractors.
Call rotation required evenings and weekends.
Support all aspects of medical case management processes for the assigned population.
Acts as a liaison between the employee, supervisor, HR, and the treating physician as indicated.
Adhere to appropriate protocol and procedural requirements in handling medical clearances, medical absences, disability (Workers Comp, short term, ADA).
Work in partnership with Absence Management, Human Resources (HR), Safety, and Law as needed in management of injuries, illnesses, and ADA accommodations.
Assesses employee situation for psychosocial needs and cultural implications and ensures support systems in place.
Creates a case management plan based on the assessment with measurable goals and objectives utilizing evidence-based criteria.
Implements plan through case management interventions and communication with all parties desired to reach desired goals and objectives
Measure’s effectiveness of treatment plans and creates alternate strategies when needed.
Discusses appropriate level and intensity of care and disability duration with providers through use of medical and disability duration guidelines, adhering to quality assurance standards
Maintains accurate record of case management in the electronic medical record.
Communicates effectively with medical providers, ill or injured worker, HR, Supervisor and Safety as needed.
Maintains ill or injured worker’s privacy and confidentiality, promotes safety and advocacy and adheres to ethical, legal, accreditation and regulatory standards
Maintain responsibility for all administrative aspects of the program to ensure compliance with Federal, State and Corporate policies/benefit summary plan.
Medically supports all leave of absence cases for the company as assigned (continuous and intermittent), recommend process improvements, ensures compliance with policies, federal and state laws, bargaining unit contract provisions, provide technical guidance to internal and external customers for effective management of the claims.
Support related projects or assignments that support department’s strategic objectives and goals as assigned.
Stay abreast of federal, state, and local occupational health and safety regulations relative to the role’s assignments.
Support innovative strategies to promote productivity in the workforce based on monitoring cases and identifying trends and opportunities to expedite positive outcomes.
Support processes and policies that ensure medical clearances as per corporate, federal and state requirements for existing and prospective employees
May be required to provide emergency care, evaluation and follow up for occupational illness and injuries and provide health consultation, first aid, immunizations, and referrals for non-occupational issues at the health services clinic.
Potential to support temporary staffing at other company health clinics including during turnarounds
Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:  

BSN or MSN preferred
5 -10 years of occupational medicine experience preferred
Certified Case Manager or Certified Occupational Health Nurse preferred.
Registered Nurse with unencumbered license
Experience in occupational health case management
Familiar with OSHA recordkeeping requirements
Knowledge of FMLA, Workers Compensation Law, and ADA
Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and organizational skills are essential.
Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
Must have proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs and electronic medical record.
Ability to set priorities and work independently is essential.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit.  The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The worker is required to have visual acuity and be capable of operating and viewing computers and other electronic devices for extended periods of time.
