Job Description

Sr. Account Executive / Sr. Director - Citi, Global Client Team, Visa USA is responsible for identifying strategies, securing resources for, and implementing partnership opportunities for Citi’s Global Consumer Bank.  This position is responsible for increasing Visa alignment, engagement, revenue, expanding Visa products, service offerings and negotiating contractual arrangements with Citi’s Consumer business globally. The ideal candidate will have significant expertise in consumer payments and co-brand businesses, managing large clients, as well as the ability to work effectively with internal and external partners to bring solutions to global Issuers.  We are looking for a determined self-starter who is a creative problem solver, deals with complex challenges and ambiguity effectively and is a proven sales professional. 

Citi is the Issuer of multiple large cobrand portfolios with Visa in North America including the Costco and Best Buy, and cobrand and Citi branded portfolios in AP, LAC and CEMEA.  This Sr. AE can be located in either Wilmington, DE, NYC, or San Francisco (preference for east coast given client’s location).  

Specific Responsibilities

Act as a key member of the Visa Global Client Team for Citi while partnering with the Visa Regional  teams focused on successfully achieving Citi’s and Visa’s common business goals.
Develop, continuously review and execute customized account plans and manage joint innovation “roadmaps” to increase engagement, revenue and market share with the client as per assigned goals and Visa strategic roadmap.
Use a consultative approach to identify strategic innovation and development opportunities through a strong understanding of the customer's business, including payment strategies across Citi’s entire Consumer business, to ensure that the client’s business objectives are met and Visa supports Citi’s growth.
Implement these strategic opportunities/products/services through excellent project management
working with internal Visa and client teams
Foster in-depth and productive relationships at all levels (including executive levels) with the client and the Visa organization.
Proactively identify and solve complex problems that impact the management, relationship
and direction of the business.
Accountable for effective management of contractual investment funding and development hours to deliver strategies, products, services and ultimately value.
Drive results while working with cross-functional teams (internal / external) that include representation from Innovation, Strategic Partnerships, Product, Operations, Market Research and Technology regarding new product development, new services and expansion opportunities.
Lead regular joint executive meetings to review results and progress regarding key initiatives.
Actively participate and lead various ad-hoc internal projects as assigned.
Prepare proposals and negotiate contractual relationships.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both home and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office three days a week, Monday (Sunday in some countries where Sunday is the start of the week) and Wednesdays. Wednesdays are designated as in-office collaboration days. The third day in the office will be decided based on team needs and determined in partnership with senior leadership.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

12 years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an advanced degree (e.g. Master’s, MBA, JD, MD) or at least 5 years of work experience with a PhD degree (experience with financial services portfolio management or comparable experience preferred).

Preferred Qualifications:

13+ years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an advanced degree (e.g. Master’s, MBA, JD, MD, PhD) (experience with financial services portfolio management or comparable experience preferred).
Extensive business experience in the payments and digital commerce industry, MBA preferred
Demonstrated track record of planning, managing and closing complex sales efforts
Courage to communicate quickly key challenges and shifts required to ensure goals are met
Ability to implement strategic initiatives, policies and operational decisions
Ability to look at opportunities from the client’s perspective and consider implications for
implementation that are broader than Visa
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to establish effective relationships with all levels including executive management
Excellent strategic thinking and analysis skills, and a proven track record of creating
solutions that increase revenue
Motivation, drive and a self-starting attitude
Strong time management with strong organizational skills
Proven project management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to manage and grow internal and external resources and cross functional relationships

Work Hours: Incumbent must make themselves available during core business hours

Travel Requirements: This position requires the incumbent to travel 35% of the time (domestic and/or international).

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
