Job Summary:
Hybrid work schedule; a combination of working remotely from home and 1-2 days a week in the office.
The Payroll Tax Analyst will work with other team members in NRG’s U.S. payroll tax function in SAP payroll system and coordinate with ADP U.S. tax team to resolve U.S. tax questions and concerns. This person in this role will work to process tax withholdings weekly within SAP payroll and monitor and verify that NRG U.S. tax filings and notices are prepared and resolved by ADP. Additionally, the person in this role will work with NRG’s Information System & IT groups to test changes within NRG’s payroll system including tax rates, new wage types, pay statement presentation, and other changes. Other key elements include assisting with ensuring employee tax withholdings on NRG’s stock and relocation are accurate and also assistng with internal/external reporting needs as it relates to payroll tax or payroll in general.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist with reconciling and resolving differences for quarterly and annual filings including Form W-2’s between SAP payroll and ADP
Work to manage unemployment rates from each state to ensure proper set up of SAP payroll system by NRG IT group
Working with payroll team, complete payroll process for tax related steps each week
Ensure taxes related to employee relocation and stock transactions are set up properly
Serve as back up for tracking and monitoring all payroll tax deposits and payments/returns prepared by ADP to ensure compliance
Work with payroll team test all payroll tax changes within SAP payroll are completed
Assist with responding to employee questions related to payroll U.S. tax withholdings
Assist with an external or internal reporting needs as it relates to payroll tax or payroll in general including KPMG, internal audit, or accounting
Ensure payroll tax processes are fully documented and such documentation easy to follow
Remain current of legislation and regulatory rules that impact payroll tax
Ensure that all payroll tax SOX controls are closed followed.
Assist with any payroll related projects and year-end activities as requested.
Assist team members as necessary.
Working Conditions:
Hybrid work schedule; a combination of working remotely from home and 1-2 days a week in the office
Some overtime required during payroll processing situations, year-end or as special projects arise.

Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related
Three (3) years current payroll experience on an ERP platform particularly SAP in a multi-state payroll tax environment
Strong knowledge of payroll and payroll taxes (federal and multi-state/local)
Knowledge Canadian payroll market and taxes to assist with Canadian payroll tax process and testing
