Brooks Instrument is an industry leader in flow measurement and flow control products for critical applications, and a division of ITW (A Fortune 200 Company) is seeking candidates for a Computer Systems Specialist supporting the sales of flow measurement and control instrumentation. The Company maintains sales offices throughout the world including their headquarters location at Hatfield, PA (Suburban Philadelphia). Our products are used in laboratory and process applications in end markets such as :life sciences, chemicals, semiconductor, analytical instruments, nuclear, and solar cells.
Basic Function
Supports computer hardware and software solutions used in Brooks Instrument’s manufacturing equipment. This role does not entail office helpdesk support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and perform system upgrades for Brooks Instruments’ manufacturing equipment.
Troubleshoot legacy hardware and applications to run on latest versions of Microsoft Windows.
Setup and configure serial peripherals, data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and other computer accessories as needed.
Work with operations and engineering to troubleshoot, implement, and validate new or upgraded computer systems.
Support upgrades while minimizing disruption to production systems.
Follow all safety procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of computer software/hardware configuration and troubleshooting.
Familiar with computer and industrial networks. Able to deploy and troubleshoot equipment on field networks (RS-485 Modbus and DeviceNET), as well RS-232 and Ethernet-based networks.
Flexible to work hours at night and/or weekends, if required.
Able to set and configure new databases. SQL, mySQL, and MS Access experience preferred.
Capable to install and replace hardware components and fix wiring/communication issues between computer and test systems.
Self-started and able to work independently with little supervision.
Able to get along with others in a team environment.
Education and Experience
Degree in computer science/technology with minimum 2 years of technical experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
Hands-on experience with industrial, laboratory equipment, and data acquisition systems.
