Job Description

Reporting to the Sr Manger Engineering, the mine engineer is responsible for technical advice, planning and methodology in the mine. The position will focus on the use of mine planning software, including AutoCAD, Carlson, and Vulcan, to generate accurate and timely mine plans to ensure the achievement of mine production goals.

Duties will include:

Visibly support and champion Peabody’s Missions and Values

Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System
Complete short, medium and long term mine planning activities
Examine mining methods and provide recommendations to improve performance
Develop plans for post mining topography and material placement
Work with mine supervision and operations personnel to achieve timely execution of mine plans
Provide project management support for various capital and mine improvement projects
Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements
Other duties as assigned by the company.

The lifestyle:

This position is a full time dayshift role, working on a Monday-Friday roster out of our Bear Run Mine.

About you:

B.S. in mining or civil engineering
E.I.T. certification or ability to obtain
Previous mining experience is preferred
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Basic AutoCAD experience is desired
Experience utilizing Carlson and or Vulcan software packages is preferred
Basic knowledge of state and federal mining regulations

Physical Requirements:

Must have the ability to sit for up to 8 hours

Must be able to use a computer and communicate effectively in various forms, including email and by phone
Must have the ability to review paper and electronic documents and complete computer entry of data from paper documents
Must be able to find, remove and return files to/from file cabinets and discuss issues by telephone and in person
Must be able to operate copier, fax machine, etc.
