The People Analytics team is responsible for delivering innovative reporting and analytics products across Apple. The data engineer will develop and implement end-to-end ServiceNow reporting solutions, in addition to the coordination of departmental or multi-functional teams focused on delivering new or upgrading existing analytics platform, reports and dashboards. This role requires advanced ServiceNow in-app report development knowledge, technical expertise working on multiple projects and strong collaboration skills. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, dynamic and meticulous individual with proven leadership experience. This role can be based on site in: Cupertino CA, Austin TX, Seattle WA, Raleigh NC

Key Qualifications

Minimum of 4+ years proficiency in ServiceNow report development required
5+ years of SQL, SAS or R experience required
Deep knowledge of ServiceNow data sources, complex reports and functional knowledge on HR modules
Hands on analytics platform, data model and engineering experience blending large datasets to build analytics dashboards and insights
Ability to understand the business requirements, user needs and translate them into operational requirements with an eye for design and user experience
Knowledge of software development lifecycle, test methodologies and tools and, passion for quality processes as applicable to data and reporting.
Ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy with highly confidential data
Familiarity with Scrum and Agile development methodologies and experience in influencing and driving adoption in your workplace while being mindful of technology and business processes.
Advanced proficiency with MS Excel (creating graphics, charts)
Self-motivated with a focus on driving results and strong sense of accountability
Demonstrated experience in analytical thinking and problem-solving

Description

The Data Engineer will be responsible for the following: ServiceNow Development Lead: - Drive the ServiceNow development lifecycle including requirements gathering, design, development, testing and ongoing improvements with deep expertise on the HR module

- Evaluate evolving ServiceNow reporting functionality, remaining cognizant of sophisticated system inter-dependencies and associated business process implications - Implement proof of concepts to confirm feasibility of requirements

- Perform regression testing and make recommendations for future improvements/functionality

- Lead efforts to analyze and optimize report and dashboard performance

- Maintain awareness and drive implementation of industry trends, upgrades/releases and standard methodologies in ServiceNow reporting

- Work directly with Apple People team advising on standard methodologies and understand reports dependency on access and security

- Collaborate with the People Analytics team to ensure in-app reports are aligned with existing external reporting architecture

STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT:

- Partner internally/externally to understand report/data requirements and ensure results meet the business needs

- Manage and lead development efforts by tracking ongoing activities in addition to presenting regular project updates to key partners and leadership

- Build a solid understanding of the product strategy and technology guiding the team’s work, applying your knowledge to help facilitate discussion and decisions regarding priorities, scope, risks, and tradeoffs

- Build management system for data engineering and development operations

- Handle escalated issues in a timely mannerEducation & Experience
