Hybrid : This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a Detroit GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite  every other week.

The Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. SDV is the vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving! As part of the SDV team, the Infotainment Systems Engineering is advancing the sophistication of vehicle infotainment systems at every level of functionality and design. We are developing alluring intuitive systems that augment driver awareness, improve occupant safety, and elevate the traveler experience.

As a Senior Systems Development Engineer, you will work within the Integration Engineering, Serviceability, and Operations (IESO) team to build and sustain groundbreaking end-to-end systems. These systems will support the simulation of voice interaction interfaces and associated environmental conditions, application performance data collection and analytics, virtual hardware in the loop validation products and services, sustain of Over The Air (OTA) technology innovations, and early phase technology demonstrations.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with leads, project managers and engineering teams to identify, reproduce, capture data and logs, and assist with the root cause of hardware and software issues

Implement technology infrastructure components to enable the development and sustain of technology services

Complete testing on developed and deployed software packages to ensure that reporting tools and log analysis capabilities are credible

Work as technical interface between the extended software development teams and execution, release, and program teams

Report and log issues into a defect tracking system, including trace files and vital steps to recreate

Serve as a support organization for the development team by assisting with activities such as environment automation, issue reproduction, performance trend analytics, etc.

Develop tools, database repositories, and ETL scripts to support aforementioned activities

Implement, communicate, and support standard methodologies among IESO services community

Additional Description

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years of Linux OS implementation/administration, tuning, and customization experience

Minimum of 10 years Ethernet networking and distributed computing system development

5 years of Compute Hardware infrastructure implementation and sustain operations

Scripting language expertise in Perl and/or Python

Expertise in data mining using SQL

Cybersecurity and firewall / NAT rule implementation

Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree

15 years of related experience

Understanding of cloud-based systems and Cyber security experience

DFSS Black Belt certification

Completed SAFe training certifications as Practitioner and/or Agilist
