About the Role
The Program Manager, HW is responsible to lead hardware/mechanical-related development aspects of the “Spaces” initiative, as well as general project management responsibilities. Within this role, removing all things that are hindering or 'blocking' development of the “Spaces” products, and leading the global development team so that they can deliver the commitments on time, to cost, and achieve all process and quality expectations. In this role, you will serve as the “Spaces” program management lead, reporting to senior leadership, and leading the collaborative efforts of all domains and organizations involved in hardware/mechanical-related development (including Harman-internal groups and external partners), and will work in close collaboration with software development teams.
Your Team
There are no direct reports to this role, but the role has leadership responsibility for a broad, multi-functional “Spaces” team. This role reports to the Director of Program Management within the NextGen organization.
What You Will Do
Provide technical solutions and coordinate resolution of all “Spaces” project issues.
Oversee the daily activities of 3-4 global software domain teams to ensure timely and accurate customer deliveries.
Drive quality and process compliance to meet ASPICE objectives.
Work with the Software Platform teams collaboratively around the globe (India, China, Germany, United States, Mexico, Russia).
Review and prioritize issues pre/post-delivery with program management, software domain teams, suppliers (internal and external).
Build positive and productive working relationships with cross-functional teams and the customer.
Ensure that the software domain team maintains a high level of competence and operational excellence.
Develop process improvements (tailoring) to achieve cost-effectiveness and time-saving
Develop recommendations for meeting customer expectations.
Perform resource allocations and workload assignments according to delivery requirements
Report status of software domains to the leadership team
What You Need
Bachelors in Engineering, Masters preferred
8+ years related technical experience
Proven technical leadership: 5+ years in engineering product development leadership or technical program management.
Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written)
Experience leading global teams
Experience in consulting and/or stakeholder-facing role is preferred
Must have strong knowledge of automotive engineering and product development.
Must be able to articulate vision and purpose, and influence decision-making outcomes with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and customers.
Must have a "whatever-it-takes" attitude using diplomatic leadership skills within a collaborative teamwork environment to accomplish the necessary results.
Proven and effective communication, analytical, judgment, initiative, and execution skills.
Well organized, meticulous good at understanding the big picture
Self-motivated, results-driven, and passionate about technology
Fast learner, able to process and summarize, correctly, large amounts of information
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
What is Nice to Have
Experience working in product development within Harman’s Product Lifecycle Development Process (PLM), or equivalent.
Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver information at the VP/Director level
Demonstrated ability to maintain composure in stressful situations, responds to customer needs quickly and effectively, adapts to change
Strong listening skills; demonstrates the ability to ask effective questions
Deep understanding of automotive development/engineering lifecycle from conception to delivery
Knowledge of design and industrialization of optical systems, electronics, or mechanical devices.
PMP Certification.
