The Sr. Systems Engineer serves as a main technical point of contact for Rockwell Automation’s customers and serves as company liaison with customers on technical matters for assigned projects. Travel is required, up to 25%.
Rockwell’s Engineers are responsible for effectively providing services to support the gathering of requirements, system design, application development, on-site installation, and commissioning. The operation of automation control systems & advanced manufacturing software applications, drive systems, manufacturing systems, industrial networks and the individual products may comprise these systems.
Responsibilities
Emerging technical leader. Takes ownership of technical tasks with minimal direction
Analyzes customer's requirements to determine the optimal control system solution and determines applicable hardware and software control configuration/architecture
Performs conceptual hardware & software systems design, determination of control system strategy to meet customers’ requirements while complying with industry codes/standards and assure that personnel/machinery safety practices are implemented
Performs software development and design of custom application software
Oversee integration of 3rd party hardware and control systems
Write technical specifications and project reports as required
Visit 3rd party suppliers and/or panel shops to assess progress, provide technical assistance and carry out inspections
Lead the technical planning and direction of internal and customer system testing
Takes ownership of issues, capable of engaging all levels of the organization to drive issues to resolution
Provide on-site control system commissioning as required
Function as the sole Lead Technical Engineer on small to mid-size projects and provide technical oversight to other Engineers on the project team

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline
Willingness to travel, typically for customer meetings or commissioning activities of a project up to 25%
Willingness to work non-standard work-days when needed to meet critical project activities
Preferred Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in automation control systems for stamping presses and/or transfer presses.
Experience with Rockwell Automation products and software tools, or equivalent industrial automation products
Experience in the design of industrial automation safety control systems and/or related application experience.
Leadership capability in applications of the different areas of automation systems including the interaction of mechanical, fluid, pneumatic and electrical systems.
