Job Description

The Strategic Sourcing Category Manager is responsible for the development and execution of the category management and sourcing strategy for various direct material & services spend categories (with focus on metal fabrications) purchased by the MP businesses located in North America. The position holder will be accountable for working with various internal businesses in order to leverage Terex’s spend and achieve best value for money. In the last few years the procurement function went through an exciting period of change and is making the transition into being a true strategic, value add business function.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Sourcing and Selection of Preferred and Approved suppliers.
Create optimal Sourcing models to provide balance of local and best cost country suppliers.
Annual and event driven Price negotiation with Suppliers to drive year on year cost reductions.
Ensure Consistent contract terms are in place and documented.
Project Management across multi-functional teams to drive project deliverables.
Supplier Escalation point of contact for issues which cannot be solved at local manufacturing site level.
Drive focussed programmes with Suppliers to reduce delivery lead times.
Supplier Relationship Management.

Basic Qualifications

8 years of procurement expertise in a Global manufacturing organization dealing with a global supply base.  Expert knowledge of the stages in Vendor Sourcing and Management including identification, selection, approval and award through to ongoing development and strategic partnering.
Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement or Engineering discipline or equivalent experience,
A medium level of travel (approx. 40% - 10% Int’l & 30% North America) is envisaged.
3 to 5 years of group sourcing experience, metrics and working with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of Metal fabrication and ability to read drawings, manufacturing process and welding.

Demonstrate effective leadership, in both strategic and tactical decision making. CIPS accreditation, whilst not essential, is desirable.
Good English Language skills must and added advantage to have International Language skills
Relevant buying and sourcing experience in direct material spend categories.
Demonstrate practical experience in price negotiations including application of raw material indices, foreign exchange impacts and other economic factors.
Understanding of Metal fabrication and ability to read drawings, manufacturing process and welding.
Ability to constructively interact with others across different geographies and time-zones.
