We're looking for an Engineering Manager who enjoys leading and forming a team, loves to challenge the status quo, does not hesitate from taking initiatives, and loves to own the team through new challenges and technologies. With your experience, technical skillset, and passion for mentoring and inspiring others, you and your team will create the components and experiences that enable the Insurance platform.
What you will do:
You will lead a team of 6-8 engineers to design and implement features and use cases for new functionality and improvements to existing products and ensure the execution of new insights or approaches
You will guide and mentor employees and managers in the development of the team and individual goals, providing regular and specific feedback, and assessing individual and team performance
You will review the skill and expertise requirements to accomplish team goals and identify staffing and talent resources to fill project roles
You will ensure efficient Full-Time Employee to contingent worker ratio is maintained on the team
You will bridge the gap in discussions between technology and non-technology personnel. Report on team status and listen for suggestions to improve lagging project work
You will remain informed on technology trends. Examine inefficiencies in the existing stack operation and encourage engineers to improve them
You will convey the right information to the accurate parties to ensure that proposals for improvements are given accurate consideration and technical issues are resolved in a timely manner
You contribute to advancing the team's design methodology and quality programming practices and mentor junior team members
You will advocate for operational excellence (such as unit testing, establishing SLAs, programming for resiliency, and scalability)
You will determine different phase landmarks and priorities with product and program management peers
You will anticipate and recognize bottlenecks in work processes between teams and makes suggestions for ongoing improvement
Who you are:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience
You are a leader and work phenomenal within a team and have a true “team first” attitude
You have delivered solutions to business problems spanning teams
Ability to work in a diverse organization with global decentralized teams, working across multiple locations
You have strong technical acuity which allows you to be responsible for multiple technical domains; justifying technology choices to technical and non-technical observers
Strong problem solving and analytical skills in redefining product requirements into user stories for engineers to work on
You have acted as a mentor for individual contributors and managers on a team
Recruited 5+ engineers into their own team
