Job Description

Job Summary

Directing a team of two accountants, this position is responsible for ensuring that closing tasks and controls surrounding the general ledger accounting area (including SOX controls) are performed accurately and timely, as well as coordinating the overall close of the entire Accounting department, including monthly consolidation.  This includes ownership of key financial areas such as cash, debt, burdens, allocations, payroll, benefits, and expense coding.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage the month end close process including review of month end journal entries, coordination of payroll, burdens and allocations, financial statements (internal and consolidated financials), analytical flux analysis, and account reconciliations.
Contribute to and lead various process and documentation improvement initiatives, as well as ad hoc projects and requests.
Responsible for SOX compliance for the above-mentioned processes as well as a key point of contact for internal and external audits.
Serve as subject matter expert for business regarding accounting treatment questions, particularly surrounding the Company’s accounting code block.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) & Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance.  SEC Reporting expertise is strongly preferred.
Ability to work across disciplines such as Payroll, Benefits, Corporate Accounting, Accounts Payable and Plant.  Ability to communicate with multiple persons throughout the Company to accomplish objectives.
Strong analytical skills as well as written and oral communication skills.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline required.
Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in corporate or public accounting.
CPA preferred.
Public Accounting experience desirable (Big 4 preferred).
