Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for the proper design and operation of the financial controls at UGI Utilities & UGI Energy Services, including the Sarbanes Oxley program.  This position will become a business expert with a deep understanding of the business risks and ensure the correct controls are in place and operating effectively to reduce the risks.  This position will evaluate the controls framework across the Natural Gas business with an eye toward standardization and efficiency, leading to an overall reduction in number of SOX controls (while still mitigating the risks).

Duties and Responsibilities

Lead the design and operation of the financial controls at UGI Utilities and UGI Energy Services, including the Sarbanes Oxley program.  Serve as the main point of contact for both UGI Corporation and the external auditors related to SOX program management.  
Manage the overall external audit process.  Serve as the main point of contact for the External Auditors.  
Meet with control owners to review and create / update flowcharts for processes, with an emphasis on identifying controls.  Evaluate the risks within processes and make suggestions for mitigating risks more appropriately and/or more efficiently.
Oversee the cash remittance and office services functions. 
Oversee/review analysis and documentation related to various topics such as goodwill, out of period analysis, and pension assumptions. 
Other special projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

6+ years of accounting experience, with understanding of GAAP and SOX compliance.  Preference for utility experience and understanding of utility ratemaking.  CPA Required.
Self-motivated, professional, and capable of managing workload and prioritizing tasks in order to meet deadlines in a fast-paced corporate environment. 
Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills.  
Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to comfortably communicate with and build relationships with Executives.
Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience in contract evaluation and SOX program design and operation.
Public accounting experience preferred.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
At least 6 years of relevant experience.
CPA Required.
