POSITION SUMMARY: Implement, test, design, and build automation/robotics solutions that are productive and safe to operate as well as economical to purchase and maintain. Work together with production engineering to determine the needs of each automation opportunity and customize the right robotics solution to reduce labor dependency.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assess manufacturing processes for the financial feasibility of robotic applications.
Design, write specifications, program PLC logic, simulate, test, and provide start-up assistance for automation and robotic design within the manufacturing facility.
Lead and implement plant automation projects using innovative manufacturing concepts focused at improving process efficiency and reducing labor dependency.
Solicit quotations, select equipment vendors, prepare capital appropriation requests, and manage spend.
Review automation equipment progress and manage delivery schedule.
Train personnel from maintenance and manufacturing to operate, troubleshoot, and repair new automation equipment.
Support manufacturing by troubleshooting existing automation equipment.
Shares best practice methods and ideas across plants/divisions.
Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION LEVEL:
Required: BSME, BSEE or relevant technical BS Degree. PLC programming.
Preferred: Knowledge in Fanuc robot programming, plastic molding, assembly, and packaging.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Required: Minimum of two-year relevant work experience, including a proven record of successful robot automation projects and hands on experience with mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components.
Preferred: Minimum of five-year relevant work experience, including hands on experience with robot automation projects. Experience with 3D solid modeling software, including design, simulation, testing, and drawing creation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
Skilled in the design of computer programs suitable for robot installations.
Skilled in troubleshooting automation control system issues.
Skilled in programming PLCs (e.g. Allen-Bradley, Siemens) plus designing and configuring HMI systems.
Familiar with Vision Systems (e.g. Cognex, Keyence).
Proficient in Design/Drafting Tools (e.g. SolidWorks).
Skilled in prioritizing, organizing, and managing multiple projects.
Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
