Job Summary:
The Energy Efficiency Engineer is expected to support strategy development as well as manage, develop and advise customers how to be more energy efficient by performing ASHRAE Level I-III energy audits and working with internal stakeholders to identify a suite of solutions that meets the customer needs. The position requires previous experience with energy auditing and verification of compliance with ASHRAE, ASME, and other relevant codes and practices. Significant project field experience in construction support, startup, repair, and/or maintenance work is required. This position is for a candidate who is passionate about energy efficiency and high performance and sustainable buildings. The candidate must enjoy and have experience with energy modeling for buildings.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Perform market research to support overall strategy development
Responsible for technical input as needed to support customer development, RFP and proposals
Technical resource to support vendor and partner relationships
Preform Preliminary Energy-Use Analysis (PEA) remote desktop studies prior to an onsite audit
Perform comprehensive energy audits (ASHRAE Level I-III) at customer site facilities
Identify energy conservation measures (water, carbon, mechanical, electrical, etc.)
Perform cost-benefit analyses, financial analysis for energy conservation measures (water, carbon, mechanical, electrical, etc.)
Develop detailed post-audit reports
Develop and/or improve calculations and procedures utilized throughout the energy assessment and management process
Provide direct communication between customer and internal stakeholders
Work closely with internal teams to ensure alignment on sales goals.
Regularly reviews industry trends, code and policy updates/addendum
Conduct Measurement & Verification for customer programs as needed (utility incentives, Energy Star Certification, PJM EE Resource Credits, etc.)
Identify applicable incentive programs and oversee application processes
Perform benchmarking reporting through Energy Star Portfolio Manager tool
Create customized load studies
Working Conditions:
Standard office environment with open office seating.
Outdoor work at project locations in a construction environment.
Willingness to travel at least 50% of the time to project locations, vendor sites or other NRG offices.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required
Minimum of 3 years experience working in energy management and performing energy audits required
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Environmental Engineering, preferred
Professional Engineer License (PE)
Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
Advanced knowledge of a range of sustainability topics including but not limited to climate change, renewable energy, and energy resilience, from an operational and policy perspective
Experience in management or energy consulting with direct customer contact preferred
LEED rating systems, energy codes, and utility incentives / rebates Knowledge of building systems, energy conservation principles/calculations, LEED rating system, utility incentives, energy codes and relevant government regulations
Knowledge of LEED and EnergyStar Certification processes
Knowledge of ASHRAE auditing standards, including building science, energy systems and controls, and the ability to develop strategies to reduce energy consumption
Knowledge of retro-commissioning study process and execution

Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver clear and concise messages to various audiences (both written and oral). Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audience
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain warm relationships with customers preferred
