This position is responsible for preventive maintenance, and the repair of production equipment throughout the Plant. This includes, but not limited to injection molding and extrusion machines, automation assembly equipment, electronic controls and sensors, and all support equipment such as low voltage electrical systems, water cooling systems, air compressors and bulk material feed systems.

 

Major Responsibilities

Maintains production equipment through routine preventive maintenance procedures, utilizing machine manuals and drawings, electrical/ hydraulic/ pneumatic schematics.
Trained and certified to operate a fork truck or high lift scissor truck. May assist other maintenance personnel in the rigging and moving of heavy machinery, such as a molding machine, extruder or assembly system.
Tracks all labor hours and work performed through the use and support of the Plant’s computerized maintenance management system.
May be asked to be a member of a corrective action team, addressing a quality concern in Manufacturing.
Will be asked to work with Maintenance Technicians.
Working knowledge of machine operation.
Must be able to perform repairs without support from others.
Must be able to work independently and stay busy without supervision.
Provide feedback to the Maintenance Supervisor concerning equipment condition, documentation, safety conditions, and issues affecting quality.
Type of Equipment to be maintained, repaired or used:

Repair and preventative maintenance on injection molding machines, including but not limited to; hydraulic hoses, valves, filters etc.
Repair and preventative maintenance on production assembly equipment including; conveyors, belts, sprockets, chains, pneumatic cylinders, valves, cutters and boxers.
Repair and preventative maintenance of material feed systems, including silos, surge bins, vacuum pumps, desiccant dryers, pneumatic valve gates, piping and fittings.

Education & Skill Sets:

High School Level Diploma – emphasis on skilled trades
Knowledge and use of hand tools and general practices
Able to safely use fabrication equipment and power tools located in the maintenance shop (drill press, lathe, milling machine, brake, grinding wheel)
Basic math and use of PC applications
Detail oriented
Self-starter, takes initiative and requires little supervision
Good communication and documentation skills
Ability to work on several tasks simultaneously
Prior experience with automation, extruders and material handling systems
Minimum 2 years experience performing maintenance duties
