Job Description

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Responsibilities:

Evaluate the impact of product, process and equipment changes on product attributes and quality architectures.
Collaborate with Division Engineering, Product Line and Technology to determine best options balancing quality, cost, capacity and timing.
Lead projects to implement quality improvements and cost of quality savings.
Develop controls to ensure product integrity and on-going performance.
Lead Process Control and Process Discipline (PCPD) evaluation. Coordinate improvements to ensure PCPD is built into processes/products.
Lead quality improvements for cable systems globally.
Design new and improve existing quality architecture systems (PQA).
Drive early identification of vulnerabilities or quality issues, assigns ownership, and ensure implementation of actions
Perform specification and guardband/risk analysis for standard products and special customer requests
Lead Worldwide quality deployments and customer resolutions.
Ensure Proactive Sustainable Solutions vs. reactive responses to issues. Coach plant quality organizations on determining true root cause.
Drive OFC Quality System continuous improvement by creating, maintaining, and executing the global strategy
Review and as required lead root cause analysis on products and processes not meeting specified standards and requirements
Hold/ evaluate/release ware produced under non-standard conditions.
Design and execute experiments, analyze results and determine course of actions.
Support, review and approve resolution of customer issues.
Instill a Quality oriented culture in which everyone feels ownership for Quality and acts accordingly

 

 

Required Skills

Required Education and Experience

BS in Engineering
3-5 years in process or quality engineering

 

Desired Skills

Knowledge of manufacturing process and product attributes, particularly Fiber Optic ribbons.
Experience with various statistical packages like SAS and Minitab
Six Sigma Black or Green Belt or DMAIC project experience.
