Job Description

Responsibilities

Aggregate huge amounts of data and information from large numbers of sources to discover patterns and create features necessary to build machine learning models that match eBay’s inventory with customers’ demand. Design and implement end-to-end solutions using Machine Learning, Optimization, and other advanced computer science technologies, and own live deployments to drive customer traffic to eBay.

Qualifications

PhD or MS in computer science, engineering or related field.
Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms. Strong programming skills (one or more of Python, Java, C/C++, Scala).
Expertise in specialized areas such as Deep Learning, NLP, Statistical modeling, Probabilistic Inference, Machine Learning, Data engineering, Recommendation Systems.
Experience in big data processing and analysis, e.g. Hadoop, SQL, Spark, Pyspark is required
Knowledge of SQL is required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work with large cross-functional teams of technical and non-technical members.
Strong analytical and research skills proven through publications in reputed conferences/journals or supporting demonstration of innovation.
Experience with site experimentation (A/B testing, Time splicing)
 

Encouraged Experience

PhD - at least 3 years of industrial/professional experience (Not counting Internships or Co-Ops) working in a production environment in a related field.
M.S. – at least 4-5 years of industrial/professional experience (Not counting Internships or Co-Ops) working in a production environment in a related field.
Experience with online advertising is a plus
Proven Professional background in Software Engineering with a focus on Object Oriented, Back End Development is a plus
