Job Description:
Huntsman currently has a challenging opportunity for an Intellectual Property Counsel at our Corporate Administrative Headquarters located in The Woodlands, Texas.
Essential responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
Provide comprehensive intellectual property legal services to one or more Business Divisions or Functional Departments of Huntsman.
Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications.
Draft, negotiate, and advise on IP related agreements, letters, forms and other legal documents, and provide creative and practical legal solutions to meet commercial needs.
Assess and advise on liabilities, legal restrictions and risks of third party IP rights and proposed IP transactions, including the preparation of freedom to operate opinions.
Assess and advise on possible infringement of Huntsman’s IP rights by third parties, and support IP related litigation and dispute resolution.
Use and manage outside legal counsel as necessary.
Promote compliance by the Business Divisions and Functional Departments with applicable laws and regulations and with Huntsman's policies and procedures.
General Responsibilities:
Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
Completes company required training.
Participates in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or similar field.
JD from an accredited University.
3 - 5 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
Special Qualifications (Training, Technical skills, etc.):
Qualified to practice law in at least one State in the US, with a current State Bar License.
Registered as Patent Attorney with United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Proficient with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
Ability to give pragmatic legal advice.
Strong commitment to integrity and professionalism.
Exceptional communication skills.
