Primary Function:
As a Technical Delivery Manager in Data Engineering at Zoro you will fill the Tribe Manager role and be accountable for leading a data engineering tribe. Your primary responsibilities will be to coach and mentor your tribe in agile/scrum practices, software craftsmanship, and other Zoro norms. Your tribe will be responsible for designing, building, and supporting Zoro’s Data Platform (ZDP) data pipelines.

 

For you, the tribe, and its squads to be successful you will need to:

drive agile/scrum practices, software craftsmanship, and Zoro norms within your tribe. 
collaborate closely with stakeholders to groom ideas into deliverable work items.
own the tribe’s backlog, code repositories, and package artifactories.

 

Your day-to-day activities will include leading, delegating, and participating in:

cadence meetings.
backlog grooming and management.
pairing sessions.
pull requests.
master data management initiatives.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Accountable for maximizing the deliverable value of your tribe.
Responsible for mentoring and coaching your tribe to help them self-organize, removing impediments, software craftsmanship, and agile/scrum practices.
Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize the backlog against company, department, tribe, and squad initiatives in current and future iterations.
Own the overall tribe backlog.
Lead master data management efforts within the tribe
Collaborate with DataOps to automate code analysis, testing, building, and deploying..
Promote a culture of high-performance by balancing innovation and operational excellence.
Be the champion for organizational change management as we transform to a data-driven culture.

 

Qualifications:

Expert experience in software craftsmanship, behavior-driven development (BDD), and unit testing..
Expert people skills - must be able to form strong, meaningful, and lasting  collaborative relationships.
Expert experience with collaborating on scrum squads with preference for experience with Large Scale Scrum (LeSS).
Expert experience with RDBMS, No-SQL DBs, data modeling, and ETL/ELT processes.
Expert experience with Python and SQL, with focus on data manipulation and analysis.
Expert experience with building, deploying, and maintaining data pipelines.
Expert experience with sourcing and profiling highly variable data.
Strong experience with leading teams in the ecommerce domain.
Strong experience with cloud infrastructure services with preference for experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Strong experience with MongoDB, BigQuery, Jira, Git, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Terraform, GCP Deployment Manager, Apache Airflow, Apache Beam, and Apache Spark.
Bachelor's degree (masters’ preferred) in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or other technology related field. An equivalent of this educational requirement in working experience is also acceptable.
