Job Summary

The Senior Marketing Accountant will be accountable for all day-to-day marketing accounting functions for applicable properties, including the preparation and analysis of management reports, analysis of costs and gross margins, as well as any required working papers. This role also handles confirmations and entries into the accounting system related to purchases, sales and transportation of differing commodities.  Accountable for the timely and accurate completion of all assigned special projects.

The Sr Marketing Accountant - International will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.

 

Responsibilities

Monthly invoicing and analysis for all product receivables (oil, gas and NGL’s)
Ensure invoice generation and distribution for cheque exchange is completed accurately and in a timely manner
Prepare netback calculations for all products
Allocate revenue to areas by product to pass to production accounting for booking
Work with Finance group to ensure the timely and accurate settlement of transactions
Review and clear Revenue A/R balances
Handle month end and quarterly reporting activities, including pricing, analysis, actual to estimate, inventory gains/ losses, financial and variance analysis
Review the preparation, analysis and reconciliations of various accounts
Ensure maintenance of all key processes and documentation
Analysis of alternative operations accounting treatments, in consultation with Manager Operations Accounting and Controller
Design and Implementation of business procedures
Assist with Accounting system initiatives and issues (maintenance, interface and data related)
Interpret Operational results in the context of a business operations and identify problem areas and/ or opportunities
Provide trend and financial marketing activities such as variance analysis for pricing, transportation costs, etc.
Liaison between Marketing, Lease Revenue Accounting, Credit and Treasury Departments
Ensure all accounting is in accordance with SOX compliance
Special projects as assigned by Manager

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum 10 years’ experience progressing throughout marketing accounting with a proven track record in oil and gas with both liquids and gas experience
Background in month end and quarterly reporting, as well as monthly invoicing and analysis and account reconciliations
Experience with Excel and SAP
Excellent Understanding of Marketing and Commercial contracts and regulations
