Job Summary

The Sr Contracts Advisor serves as an internal resource and external contact for management and administration of contracts within the upstream E & P division. He or She provides contract services to Murphy's upstream divisions and projects in support of the most critical contractual and commercial domestic, offshore, and international drilling, production, major construction projects and related support services. This position is the highest-level individual contributor position within supply chain management.  Typically expect to make key contribution to maintaining the health of the discipline via peer reviews, training and coaching as well as involved in significant project impacting the business unit’s performance objectives.

The Sr Contracts Advisor will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.

Responsibilities    

Work intimately with other service groups (e.g., SCM, Legal, HSE, Finance, Insurance & Operations) to ensure their requirements are effectively addressed in contracting documents and procedures, and implemented across Murphy's upstream divisions and projects
Develop, implement, and maintain an appropriate suite of contract documents to ensure operational consistency across Murphy
Develop, implement, and maintain detailed contracts management work processes reflecting best ethical and business practices, and that ensure operational consistency across Murphy
Monitor new and innovative practices within the industry and continuously improving contracting procedures and documents
Monitor compliance with approved documents and contracts management procedures and recommending corrective actions as required
Identify and leverage synergies across Murphy’s upstream division, including through the implementation of key contractor agreements and master service agreements
Ensure comprehensive contracting strategies and plans are prepared that reflect the project's execution plan and result in best value for the project
Monitor internal client satisfaction with contracts and recommending corrective actions as required
Manage contracts with suppliers to ensure supplier compliance; evaluate supplier performance through review of reports and client feedback; resolve issues and implement solutions to address negative supplier performance
Develop new country entree contracting strategies that comply with all Local laws, Customs and with the PSN JOA terms
Participate on SCM sourcing teams for the research, bid and contract management of supplies and services. Participate in strategic planning to target future cost savings
Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws
Assist in the development of annual business objectives for the Global Contracts team.
Forecasts market category developments and Murphy demand
Works with and leads senior multi-disciplinary and cross business teams
Acts as an expert and is regarded as a leading authority within Murphy
Leads multi-discipline negotiating teams in complex negotiations
Demonstrates full understanding of negotiation dynamics and consistently utilizes successful negotiating and influencing behaviors
Trains and coaches’ others around complex negotiating and influencing techniques

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s degree

Minimum 10 years’ experience in supply chain overseeing contracts, negotiations, and  material costs
Strong SAP experience
Strong Microsoft Suite skills
