This role in summary

Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for a Manufacturing Engineering Senior Manager to join our Whirlpool - Greenville Operations organization.  This position will provide overall leadership in setting Engineering strategy as well as directing the technical excellence of the overall Greenville Operations (KitchenAid Plant) consisting of Machining, Painting, and Assembly.  You will lead an engineering, maintenance, and facilities function by integrating world-class manufacturing and business processes.  You must have a proven track record of delivering overall performance and installing/using key performance indicators (KPI's) to monitor progress. Capital project management experience is a plus, along with demonstrated knowledge in support and assembly operations. You must have the ability to interact well with all levels of the organization, outside entities, and governmental officials. This position will be a hands-on, action-oriented leader who can operate with a blend of setting strategy, leading, and doing.  The Engineering Senior Manager will work with the Plant Leader to build and execute on the vision for the Plant while concurrently executing against existing objectives.

Your responsibilities will include 

Drive safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and engagement of overall plant operations through effective leadership
Develop and execute the Early Equipment Management (EEM) Pillar
Accountable for the Professional Maintenance (PM) and Focused Improvement (FI) Pillars support 
Develop specific short-term and long-term plans and programs to improve productivity and capacity and prepare the necessary budgets and justifications for these projects
Develop and lead the execution of engineering, maintenance, and facilities strategic initiatives in your area of responsibility
Create a culture committed to Lean, Industry 4.0 and the Whirlpool Manufacturing System
Help set and implement the vision for the factory of the future
Champion diversity and inclusion behaviors
Proactively seek and value all types of diversity and work to bring out the contributions of everyone
Actively coach and provide feedback to peers, subordinates, and others as appropriate
Build organizational capability through proactive coaching of your direct reports on skill-building and career development
Build relationships with the broader manufacturing organization and with Human Resources, Legal, Demand Planning, Supply Chain and Logistics
Proactively collaborate with peers in other Whirlpool manufacturing locations, global business teams, brand, channel/corporate technology, and finance organizations and leverage enterprise-wide expertise
Drive continuous improvement in the organizational, technical and business information processes/systems through lean/innovative thinking/ideas
Partner with product development teams to ensure the right technology and processes to support new products and to drive seamless product launches
Participate in product line rationalization and simplification discussions

Minimum requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
7+ years technical managerial experience in a manufacturing environment
5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, process development, and/or project execution
Capital project management experience

Preferred skills and experiences

3 + years at a manager level leading salaried direct report
Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business Management
Demonstrated ability to successfully lead operations in a matrixed organization
Proven success driving lean principles and philosophies
Experience driving World Class Manufacturing initiatives
Competent on PC and mainframe applications related to responsibilities
Demonstrated ability to analyze and implement automation solutions in order to improve safety, quality and productivity eliminating Non-Value-Added Activity (NVAA)
Confidence and willingness to take calculated risks, implement new ideas, drive for results, and sustain change
Demonstrated ability to provide an engaging work environment
Champion for challenging existing practices
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict to a resolution
Effective management of priorities, expectations and accountabilities
Proven record of attracting and developing talented people and effectively allocating and utilizing resources
