Job Description

The Electrical Automation Technician will be responsible for installing new equipment, improving automated process’s, updating control systems, and maintaining such equipment. This role provides significant exposure to automation, integration and the safety required of such projects intended to increase throughput and provide both robust and safe operations. Additionally, the candidate will interface with the entire operations team, consisting of Safety, Quality, Production, Engineering, Shipping and Facility Maintenance.

Implement automation improvements throughout the plant including current automation.
Provide technical expertise to Machine Safety and Guarding projects.
Provide electrical support through troubleshoot and upgrade of manufacturing equipment.
Assist in the installation of robotics and controls to automate production equipment.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of PC’s and PLCs with their various software systems, i.e. Ladder Logic, NC Software, QBasic and Network Protocols.
Complete other duties as assigned or directed.

2-year technical degree in electrical technology or equivalent is required/preferred.
At least 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment in a Maintenance/Automation Technician role required/preferred.
Fanuc Robotic Installation and Programming is preferred
SolidWorks or AutoCAD experience highly desirable.
Must be able to give examples of relevant projects and/or work completed.
Working knowledge of PLCs and PLC programming (Allen Bradley is preferred).
Experience in panel building and sizing is desired.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems within a manufacturing environment.
Possess a deep understanding of Ethernet communication, Control Logic and Programmable Logic Control (PLC).
Demonstrate knowledge concerning general safety protocol and procedures regarding field operations.
Experience with Robotic programming.
Demonstrate knowledge concerning general safety protocol and procedures regarding field operations.
Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (equipment suppliers, outside engineers) to support project development activities.
Ability to work independently, manage projects and complete assignments in a timely manner.
Self-starter; works with minimal supervision; capable of offering up and making decisions.
Effective oral, interpersonal and written communication skills.
Team-player with aptitude to learn the ITW culture and work within a fast-pace environment.
