ADM BARBADOS has an opening for an Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator at its flour milling facility located in Bridgetown. The Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator will have responsibility for ensuring compliance with all regulatory laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines relating to environmental, health and safety protection, location safety, and health activities which includes training, inspections, and audits. The EH&S Coordinator will take personal responsibility for the safety of personnel, and coordinate location safety and health activities as directed and approved by line management. This includes safety training, inspections, safety, and food safety audits, as well as internal and external reporting. The EH&S Coordinator will also serve as a role model for employees, visitors, and contractors within the facility while providing guidance and direction for colleagues who perform the day-to-day business of the plant.
The ideal candidate should possess:
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety (or related fields such as Environmental Management or Industrial Engineering), with at least five (5) years experience preferably in a manufacturing entity.
• Specialized training in related areas, such as Industrial Health and Safety;
• Expert knowledge of Industrial Health and Safety practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• The considered candidate will have a confident and courteous manner, strong leadership, problem-solving, self-motivation, and organizational skills.
• A strong commitment to employee safety.
• Well-developed time management and communication skills – both oral and detailed written are needed to be effective in this position.
This position requires standing and walking for long periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working with tools, working within close-confined spaces, and working within extreme temperatures.
