Job Description
If you are a lead software engineer looking for an opportunity to influence the technical direction of software products, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Eden Prairie, MN location, you will join an agile product development team, designing and developing software for industrial process applications.
AS A PRINCIPAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER, YOU WILL:
Design and develop software services and applications that monitor machine health and analyze vibration data
Lead projects/scrum teams and mentor other engineers
Analysis of customer’s needs
Provide architectural direction and advice
Creating intellectual property
Writing application code
Participate in code reviews
Creating unit and integration tests
Unit testing of developed applications
Profiling and optimizing applications
Creating developer tools
Creating technical documentation
Refining the software development process
Collaborate with local and global development teams
Working with the marketing team to create a software development plan
Provide the technical leadership, coordination, and support for team members
Working with the technology manager in building and developing the team.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering and 6+ years of applicable experience
Legal authorization to work in the United States
Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems
Experience participating in an Agile/Scrum team
Experience using work management tools such as Azure DevOps
Experience with the .NET ecosystem
Experience with the C# programming language
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Experience with cloud architecture
Experience building microservices
Experience in Event-driven architecture concepts
Experience with Message Oriented Middleware (MOM) or open-source distributed event streaming platforms such as NATS, Kafka, or RabbitMQ
Experience with front end web development and frameworks such as React or Angular
Experience with CI/CD tools
Experience with version control software such as Git
Experience with web application frameworks such as ASP.NET core
Experience participating in a secure development lifecycle (SDL)
Knowledge of software testing techniques
Domain knowledge for vibration, signal processing, and spectrum analysis
