Job Specific Essential Functions:
Repairs and performs preventative maintenance of DNA/RNA synthesizers, synthesis benches and related systems, cleaving machines, purification systems, laboratory automation and other laboratory equipment.
Repairs, monitors, performs diagnosis and preventative maintenance of certain building-related systems, including but not limited to: HVAC systems, water purification systems, compressed air systems, nitrogen generation systems.
Installs/assembles new equipment as required.
Follows standard operating procedure and work instruction documents while performing repair, maintenance, and assembly procedures.
Completes logs, reports, and forms as required to document service procedures and calibration data.
Manages equipment downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance.
Maintains a clean and orderly work area, routinely putting away tools and disposing of trash.
Practices safe working habits, follows all IDT safety policies, performs safety checks on equipment and systems, and identifies, corrects, and reports potential safety hazards.
Records and updates maintenance management system upon completion of work.
Requisitions and/or purchases supplies, materials, tools, machine parts, and other necessary equipment.
Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Integrated DNA Technologies Core Values.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate’s degree in Engineering or Maintenance-related program preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience in a facilities and/or mechanically-related field required.
Previous experience in an HVAC service field preferred.
Other Job Qualifications
Knowledge of electric motors, generators, pumps, pressure systems, water systems and other equipment and systems found in buildings and manufacturing facilities.
Knowledge of the maintenance and repair of air handling equipment, fans, belts, drives, and drives.
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the building maintenance trades.
Knowledge of the proper use of chemicals used in the facility.
Ability to use hand and power tools as well as electrical service tools (soldering iron).
Ability to follow diagrams, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions and engineering specifications
Ability to interact in a professional manner with customers, employees, and all levels of management.
Ability to perform under stress when confronted with emergent, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations, or situation in which working speed and sustained attention are make-or-break aspects of the job.
