Job Description

This exciting opportunity will place you in a crucial role in Caterpillar’s delivery of Autonomous and Site Solutions to our largest Resource and Construction Industry customers. This position is for a Senior Autonomy Engineer within the A&A (Autonomy & Automation) System Integration & Validation group. This individual will perform system integration and validation activities on NPI programs in the MineStar product line. This role includes opportunity to perform system integration testing activity, collaborate closely with team members based in Mossville, Tucson, Montreal, Australia, and Cat India – as well as serving as a key point of contact with partner development teams and our internal clients.

The individual will create and execute system integration & validation tests and be a technical expert on their responsible products. Outstanding technical, coordination, and communication skills are must for this position.

Job Duties

Integrate and test complex autonomy systems that meet prioritized requirements for autonomous machine programs that focus on machine safety and productivity, and provide a differentiated product value to our customers.

Prioritize and execute integration & validation activities – from understanding major release strategy down to day-to-day coordination in daily huddles.

Engage deeply in the issue management process between the integration & validation team, the system development groups, and product support.

Lead a culture of continuous improvement through issue retrospectives.

Engage with Customers, Cat dealers, and Mining Solutions team members through periodic product demonstrations – virtual and in person.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent technical field

5+ years of relevant engineering work experience involving complex technology solutions in a development, validation, or product support role

Top Candidates will also have

Outstanding teamwork, communication, analysis, and troubleshooting skills are required

The individual should be a self-starter, highly motivated, able to learn at an accelerated pace, and willing to put in the time to get the job done

Linux operating system experience

Experience with Agile software development, including application of workflow tools (ex. Target Process, Azure DevOps, and/or Jira)

Experience with integration & validation deliverables, including application of workflow tools (ex. HP Quality Center, Azure DevOps)

Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge of the relevant MineStar products

Have some heavy equipment and mining application experience
