WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking an experienced Materials Development Manager for Footwear to lead the execution of our Digital Materials and Color Initiative. You will be a coach and project manager for the digital initiative while also leading, mentoring, and coaching team members. You will ensure the material developers are supported and create opportunities to do their best work. You will collaborate cross functionally ensuring solutions represent the needs of the entire material ecosystem. You will raise opportunities and present solutions. In addition, you’ll drive analysis and strategy in support of our digital future.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

The successful candidate will lead multiple workstreams within the Digital materials Initiative. You will partner with Digital Product Creation, Materials Development, Design, Innovation, and Materials Manufacturing to provide insights and you'll collaborate on resolutions that unlock creativity. You'll partner with vendors on solutions that enable speed, scale, and flexibility. You will revolutionize how we build product alongside product creation, materials integrity, and design through informed decision making.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

As a member of NIKE’s Materials Development team, you will help lead the transformation of how we inform, ideate, and collaborate on materials through our Digital Initiative. You will drive the standardization of new material processes for the footwear ecosystem that leverage digitally enabled assets, data, and tools. Materials Development collaborates with vendors, NIKE product creation, and other functions within the materials ecosystem in order to identify opportunities for capability advancements, key milestones and deliverables, and ensure material excellence for both consumers and athletes.

WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE

Bachelor's degree or higher in Materials, Chemistry or related field, or combination of relevant education, experience and training
5+ years' professional experience in materials development, footwear manufacturing or engineering
Demonstrated expertise in material types, including: fibers, yarn, textile, leather, synthetic leather, components or trims
Successful experiences mentoring or managing people
Strong communication skills
Ability to anticipate needs, mitigate risks, and solve problems
Attention to detail, active follow-through, assertiveness, self-motivation and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to balance multiple competing projects and independently manage workload
Solid digital literacy with working knowledge of MS office software; material management systems experience preferred
Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
