Sr. Global Manufacturing Test Engineer

Job Description

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Support the development of comprehensive functional testing strategies and environments for EV components, including motors, inverters, chargers and vehicle controllers, at various levels of automation
Identify and develop required in-process testing jointly with manufacturing engineering to ensure process risks are mitigated
Work closely with design engineering from various technical centers to understand product architectures and ensure testing requirements are met, including customer and regulatory needs
Support local testing groups and ensure EV test strategies are aligned throughout the various Dana facilities
Perform test data analysis to identify trends and establish long-term predictive strategies.
Leads the develop of testing technologies required to support long term roadmaps in product testing and advanced engineering for electrification.
Initiates benchmarking activities to ensure Dana is assessing state of the art testing technology and methods for all EV components.
Develops capital plans for business cases, strategies & action plans for deployment of EV component testing methods.
Participates in stage gate design reviews for new customer programs and advanced development projects to ensure the design is following DFT.
Implements and creates smart, flexible testing systems, and works with local engineering teams to deploy in test equipment purchases.
Lead process to share and deploy best practices for testing of electrified systems across global locations and applicable business units.
Support facilities in development of long-range capital investment plan, as well as review and approve capital investment projects for global manufacturing facilities to ensure adherence to SBOP and SPOE.
Develop/ maintain standard manufacturing / quality documentation (PFMEA, Control Plan, BOPY, MSA Plan, Functional Safety, etc.) for core processes
Support customer program launch activity as required.
Travel as necessary to support operations globally.
Perform other assigned duties incidental to the occupation.

 

Requirements:

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Technology.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in functional testing processes and capital equipment procurement, with automotive and electric motor & inverter experience preferred.
Understanding of inverter electronics preferred, as it pertains to main functions and testing
Must understand statistics, as it relates to manufacturing and assembly processes.
Low and high-volume production experience.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong project management skills.

Strong initiative and the ability to work well in a team environment.

Computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Must be able to travel for extended periods both domestically and internationally.
Willingness to work extended or irregular hours to ensure that key job responsibilities are accomplished.
