As the Analyst, GIS Support, you will be responsible for acting as a consultant to the business client for GIS technology solutions, managing client expectations and serving as one of primary client interfaces. Also Iinvestigates and resolves GIS user problems, generates maps and reports, tests software enhancements, develops and conducts training programs for GIS users etc.
Specifically, you’ll have the opportunity to:
Work with internal business units to provide GIS based solutions to help resolve their business problems.
Provides solutions to GIS problems, through research and analysis, which are reported by users. Consults with and provides feedback and updates to management and clients on GIS Support issues. Works with GIS System Administration and Development staff to resolve reported problems. Works with vendors and other internal GIS groups, when necessary, to resolve reported problems.
Provides information, as requested or on a preset schedule, through the analysis and generation of GIS reports, or statistics, for GIS management and/or other departments.
Serves as a liaison between the GIS group and various other departments at CenterPoint Energy. Collaborates with customers to gather their business requirement /data, business processes and other business rules to ensure that all information has been considered when choosing a solution for their needs.
Handles problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution and follow-up for routine user problems, referring more complex problems to Team Leader or Technical Support.
Creates scripts/models to increase automate processes.
Creates presentation quality maps, digital and paper, for a variety of internal stakeholders including but not limited to electric and gas engineering and operations, Surveying and ROW, environmental and claims.
Identifies necessary process and procedure changes necessary to improve the user experience while using the GIS system. Consults with Development staff to implement these modifications.
Provides input to the design and management of GIS databases, tools, and applications.
Writes software evaluation and recommendation for management review.
Develop plans for the testing, training and implementation of new or modified applications or solutions.
Writes or revises user training manuals and procedures including exercises and visual displays for in-house and vendor software applications.
Conducts training sessions for various GIS software’s, training will be both in a group setting and on an individual needs basis.
Consolidates users work in GIS and resolve conflicting edits.
Develops map configuration and reports as required to support clients’ data and reporting requests.
Tests new software to evaluate functionality, ease of use and viability, and compatibility of existing applications.
Develops and maintains user roles, symbology, display properties (stored displays), roles, and plot templates in ArcGIS for enterprise-wide use.
Supports off-site users by assisting in the administration and management of Citrix servers.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
• Requires a bachelor's degree.
• Requires 3 years of GIS Support experience:
Preferred Experience, Education and Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Applications preferred.
• Training, support and GIS activities; or equivalent combination of education (such as GISP and/or ESRI certifications) and experience.
• Web, desktop and mobile GIS applications support
ESRI software suite, including ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Online

• Database queries in Oracle 12g with PL/SQL
