Duties and Responsibilities:
Review results of all phases of the audit ensuring that conclusions, findings and recommendations are properly supported.
Review Audit Reports and help communicate audit results effectively to senior management.
Stay current with Sempra operating companies (primarily SoCal Gas) operations and their respective risk profiles throughout the year. Keeps abreast of company policies and procedures, current developments in accounting and auditing professions, and changes in local, state, and federal laws, as applicable.
Assist with assessing risks and recommending changes to improve operations or strengthen business controls, and negotiate solutions or corrective action.
Evaluate, counsel, mentor, and provide feedback on performance of direct reports and other staff members. Participate in training efforts.
Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent required.
Experience:
10+ years related experience or equivalent training and/or experience.
Prior internal audit and/or external audit experience preferred.
5+ years relevant industry experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
Knowledge of financial, operational and management practices and auditing techniques.
Requires strong grasp of accounting and audit theories and principles.
Knowledge of company-wide financial systems such as SAP preferred.
Strong project management skills and proven ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Licenses and Certifications:
Active CPA license preferred.
