POSITION SUMMARY:

Marathon Petroleum Company is in search of highly motivated Process and Projects Engineers for its Louisiana Refining Division petroleum refinery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Predict and support optimization of an area through daily monitoring, documenting, and analyzing process data.  This includes a review of key performance indicators and operating envelope variables.
Define acceptable process operating limits based on process safety & environmental limits, mechanical limits, performance and reliability.
Review the refinery operation and recommend operating guidelines and strategies for profit improvement.
Understand advanced process control concepts. Participates in development and implementation of new control strategies for profit or efficiency improvement.
Identify and develop modifications to optimize the process, improve safety or improve environmental performance.  Project size may range from small single-unit modifications to large capital projects involving multiple refinery process units.
Develop decision support packages and support the capital budgeting process for projects, maintenance, or test runs, including refinery economics, for management review/approval.  Collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
Provide leadership and coaching on process/refinery operations and economics.
Interface with and coordinate licensor / specialized process technical support.
Perform environmental calculations as needed.
Monitor and report status of technical recommendations through completion.
Lead and/or participate in P&ID reviews, HAZOPs, incident investigations, Management of Change activities, and continuous improvement programs as a subject matter expert for assigned area.
Provide technical support for complex troubleshooting during normal operation or during turnarounds for assigned areas or projects.
Some travel for training, professional development, and to interface with engineering contractors should be expected.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
Minimum of 7+ years of relevant industry experience as process, controls or projects engineer.
