Entry Level Transit Engineer

Job Description

The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

Researching and writing Urban Corridor Improvement plans

Developing plans for Bus Rapid Transit, Light Rail Transit, and other multi-modal improvements

Developing Site Grading Plans

Arterial Reconstruction and/or Traffic Signal Improvement Plans

Drainage and Erosion Control Plans

Utility coordination

Coordination with the transportation planning team to conduct equitable public outreach, preparing materials and presentations.

Assists with other duties assigned by senior staff and/or Project Managers.

The successful candidate should have:

An understanding of AASHTO, NACTO, APTA, state DOT, and/or City Standards

An ability to coordinate among multiple disciplines including architecture, landscape architecture, ITS, communication, electrical, structural, and urban planning

Good interpersonal skills, good command of the English language both verbally and written, the ability to express thoughts clearly, good time management skills, and a good attitude towards work

Ability to work as a member of a team or perform independent work as required

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited University, with a focus in transportation, or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

Engineer-in-Training certification (or ability to obtain)

Technical writing

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley Microstation/Geopak/Inroads

Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems, including ArcMap and ArcGIS Online

Previous internship experience with an emphasis in civil engineering fields such as transit design, roadway design, site design, utility design, stormwater and multimodal transportation projects.

Basic knowledge of transportation topics
