Job Summary
Evaluates risk, underwrites and processes service transactions for Commercial Underwriting. Executes on underwriting policies up to authority limits and services policies for assigned lines of businesses and territories.
Essential Job Functions
Analyzes, researches and resolves policy to accept, modify or reject account related inquiries from internal and external customers for accounts under $25,000 in premium. Reviews issues and collaborates with other stakeholders to ensure resolution. Objectively validates information provided for new business, cancellations, amendments, endorsements and renewal transactions within defined scope of discretion. Calculates rates and premiums, including premium refunds, and selects the appropriate declarations, coverage forms, exclusions and option coverage in order to complete a policy. Utilizes appropriate underwriting tools such as MVRs, product guides and loss control to make determination of acceptability, eligibility, classification and proper pricing based on assigned products and authority levels. Evaluates exceptions and provides documentation in adherence to established guidelines. Conducts proper review in order to prepare referrals for transactions above authority level to appropriate leader. Communicates with both internal and external customers to underwrite and service customer accounts or support initiatives to ensure a positive customer experience. Provides support within established performance standards and priorities that are responsive to marketing, underwriting, retention and service goals. Routinely refers to departmental procedures relating to issuing, renewing, reinstating, canceling and changing accounts in order to ensure policies are compliant with various regulatory and company guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned.

Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (e.g. others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.

This position operates in an open office working environment which will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions.
Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience Requirements
Minimum one year professional experience in an office setting required. Minimum one year related insurance experience preferred.
