Job Description Summary

As a Lead 5G Wireless Engineer, you will have the opportunity to design, architect and implement novel networking and wireless connectivity solutions. You will lead and contribute to R&D programs aligned with GE’s businesses such as Aviation, Power, Renewables, and Healthcare as well as with U.S. government agencies such as DOD and DOE to solve some of the world’s toughest challenges. The technologies developed under these programs will be matured and transitioned into GE business products.

Roles and Responsibilities

Work in an interdisciplinary team of researchers to help transition wireless communication and networking concepts from early stage lab demonstrations to fieldable prototypes.
Work with U.S. government agencies to shape winning proposals and lead projects that will create innovative solutions in wireless communication and networking.
Collaborate with universities, industrial consortiums, commercial partners, and others to advance the state of the art in 5G, wireless communication and networking.
Participate in IEEE, ISA, 3GPP, or other relevant standards bodies to help drive connectivity solutions to support GE business needs.
Publish technical papers, file patents, and contribute to open source communities.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines with a minimum of 3 years of industry related experience OR Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines with a minimum of 6 years of industry related experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines with a minimum of 8 years of industry related experience.
Experience in the design, implementation, and testing of wireless connectivity solutions including but not limited to: 5G, 4G/LTE Cellular, WiFi, millimeter wave, massive MIMO, software defined radio, or cognitive radio.
Hands-on experience in the design and implementation of at least one OSI layer (1 through 4).
Understanding of radio system design, simulation, and characterization.
Experience in programming languages such as: C, C++, Python, etc.
Working knowledge with simulation tools such as: MATLAB/Simulink, Genesys, Wireless Insite, HFSS, FEKO, NS3, QualNet, or OPNET.
