Job Description

Job Function and Purpose

The function of this position is to advance the development and commercialization of the TruCulture® platform technology by leading the RBM efforts in product development, application development, manufacturing optimization, and technical support.  The Director will lead a small operations team related to TruCulture order fulfilment and customer support as well as at least one Research Associate to perform development tasks.

Principal Responsibilities

Leads the product development and technical support tasks related to TruCulture, achieving technical and business goals which maintaining the highest quality and customer satisfaction.
Designs experiments to further develop the TruCulture platform.  This will include optimizing protocols, designing new features, developing new applications, and working with customers and collaborators.
Analyze, interpret, and report results.  Make decisions on possible course of action.
Ensure that milestones are completed on time while understanding budget constraints.
Supervise, train, and evaluate staff.
Maintains and develops skills and expertise in immunology through the study of scientific literature, interactions with customers/collaborators, and attendance of conferences.
Develops product application literature such as application notes, technical bulletins and white papers.  Generates scientific publications based on new applications.
Participates in development of intellectual property, marketing, and technical support materials such as various presentation slides, product feature-based competition analysis reports or preparation of technical documents for regulatory submissions.
Management and Director skillset

Nature and Scope

The Director of R&D, Immunology reports to the VP Laboratory Operations.  The incumbent interprets data generated in identifying and deciding between alternate courses of action to fulfill project goals in a scientifically sound manner.  Success will also be measured by typical business metrics such as revenue and earnings related to TruCulture. 

Position Requirements

PhD with 5+ years or a MS degree with 10+ years of industry experience including 2+ years of previous management experience in a laboratory setting. 
Immunology expertise, with broad knowledge of systems, pathways, and technologies
Disease area expertise preferred, inflammatory disease or immuno-oncology
Demonstrated excellence in the development, implementation, and processing of in vitro assays, including cellular and flow cytometric assays
Data analysis skills, including familiarity with multiplex biomarker data analysis as well as standard statistical analysis practices
Strong cell culture skills including whole blood cultures and PBMCs
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Self-motivation and the ability to work independently, and collaborate as part of internal and external cross-functional teams
Experience with clinical trial design and analysis is preferred, along with expertise in immuno-oncology or inflammatory disease.
