Job Summary

This position works in the complex area of the Energy Accounting/Settlement process. This position is responsible for data and system integrity, initiating corrective actions to maintain data accuracy, and applying NERC, MISO and PJM policy to manage all megawatt hour accounting for supply, consumption, and interchange. The position requires a broad knowledge of practices and procedures and calls for originality and ingenuity in developing solutions. Strive for continuous improvement of tools and practices (performance measurement, business case development and process improvement) within a framework of strategic analysis.

Job Responsibilities

Associate Energy Project Analyst:

Entry level position considered a novice in Energy Accounting/Settlements and systems such as PCI, SAP, MV90, OSI-PI, etc… and/ or business processes.

Anticipate, interpret and translate overall Energy Accounting/Settlements Requirements.
Customer focused, working with cross-functional teams and contacts within and outside of the organization.

Ensure process flow across organizational lines is efficient and effective and that issues are managed.

Maintains awareness and clear vision of business and industry changes (inside and outside the organization) that could affect the Energy Accounting/Settlement processes.
Supports department compliance initiatives
Supports budget planning and analysis process

Energy Project Analyst:

Fully competent in all aspects of Associate Energy Project Analyst position.

Position considered an expert in Energy Accounting/Settlements and systems such as PCI, SAP, MV90, OSIPI, etc… and/ or business processes.
Prepare, document, and present analysis along with recommendations to management including senior management (Business unit/Dept). Ability to present and communicate outputs and issues in a manner that is clear and usable to their clients. In a one-on-one or large group setting.
Apply knowledge of interrelationships in process and utilize problem solving skills to recommend improvements to the process. Understand root cause of problems. Assesses impact of solution on the organization.
Perform complex assignments. Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
Design and implement new processes and procedures to improve the end product.
Is a consultant to other departments

Senior Energy Project Analyst:

Fully competent in all aspects of Energy Project Analyst position.

The individual in this position works with limited supervision.
Assists in development, testing and implementation of new meter points, calculations and processes in the Energy Accounting system
Provides work direction and challenging assignments to other employees.
Take on lead role in multiple projects and cross-functional teams. Including basic project management skills (project updates, status tracking, and identifying issues to be brought to management….)
Provides training and encourages knowledge transfer to other employees and clients. In addition conducts end user training to support customer (client) initiatives.

Minimum Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related Engineering degree. Advanced degree in a financial discipline is desirable.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills are essential for success in this position.
The ability to build relationships internally and externally is necessary.
Strong problem solving, planning and organization skills are required.

Associate Energy Project Analyst:

0-3 years prior accounting or Wholesale Electric Business experience. Must have strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Additionally, strong analytical and computer skills and ability to identify creative solutions to complex and abstract issues is required.

Energy Project Analyst:

2-3 years prior accounting or Wholesale Electric Business experience. Must have strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, project management skills and ability to provide effective formal management presentations of strategic business issues. Additionally, strong analytical and computer skills and ability to identify creative solutions to complex and abstract issues is required.

 

Senior Energy Project Analyst:

 

 

Minimum of 7 years prior accounting or Wholesale Electric Business experience. Must have demonstrated strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, project management skills and ability to provide effective formal management presentations of strategic business issues. Additionally, strong analytical and computer skills and ability to identify creative solutions to complex and abstract issues is required. Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams or projects, mentor, and provide training.
