Position Description:

Manage the HUD closing process for both MAP and Lean / Section 232 loans, ensuring that all program requirements are followed, and that the closing process is as efficient as possible.  They will be responsible for training and mentoring closing staff, and will work closely with the production, underwriting, delivery management and servicing teams.  The manager will also be the primary contact with our lender counsel, managing our approved counsel list and pricing matrix. 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
10 years of work experience in commercial real estate finance, ideally in closing and delivery of HUD/FHA loans is required.  Strong exposure to both multifamily and healthcare loan products is required.
Advanced knowledge of and experience in closing, multifamily and the healthcare industry. This includes but would not be limited to a strong knowledge of the key players in the industry, the issues and trends facing the industry.
Proficient in all types of HUD MAP and Section 232 loans with a strong construction loan knowledge.
Advanced analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data quickly, make decisions based on imperfect data, and take action in order to assist the team in moving its transactions forward.
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management.
Demonstrated management skills.
Demonstrated commitment to innovation and change and willingness to take initiative to accomplish change.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute solutions to complex issues and transactions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Pipeline Management and Driving the Closing Process - 25%
Achieve department closing goals.
Achieve closing processing time goals.
Ensure completeness and accuracy of closing pipeline data in management reports.
Management Skills Including Motivation and Innovation – 25%
Ensure a balanced workload.
Develop and implement training for the closing staff.
External Relationships – 15%
Establish strong relationships with HUD closing staff.
Establish strong relationships with lender counsel.
Represent W&D HUD Closing team in external industry organizations (i.e. MBA and Regional Lender Groups).
Communication Skills and Advocacy – 15%
Identify issues and derive solutions in a timely manner.
Strong negotiating skills with internal and external partners, working toward successful outcomes.
Deliver constructive feedback.
Proactive Problem Solving – 20%
Be able to solve complex closing issues to keep deals moving forward to a successful closing.
Develop and improve on efficiencies in the closing process.
