POSITION SUMMARY
BorgWarner Emissions Systems is currently looking for a dynamic, results driven individual to join as a Systems and Controls Engineer for the Emissions Thermal and Turbo Systems Business Unit, at our Powertrain Technical Center (PTC) facility which is located in Auburn Hills, Michigan U.S.A.
This engineering position is part of core engineering team and will work with the application engineering team in the areas of system requirements development and management, system calibration, system problem solving, sensor system development, and system integration.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support core products from development to production in relation to system requirements and specifications.
Understand requirements to generate a calibration implementation.
Understand requirements to generate controls implementations, and system models.
Understand requirements and specifications for correct system integration
Guide implementation of new mechatronics systems, sensor designs and components into the applications products for smart and non-smart electronics
Work with team solve to system issues during product design and testing.
Plans, schedules, and coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work from initiation of design through production along with follow-up and support.
Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice. Controls a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
Work in coordination with suppliers and customers efficiently and effectively.
Self starter and leads projects with minimal oversight
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics)
7+ years of experience in electronic product design and development
Product development and launch experience *preferred
Experience with and knowledge of control theory *preferred
Detailed understanding of design processes
Good presentation skills and experience *preferred
Computer skills in Microsoft Office products *preferred
Proficiency in usage of Mathworks MAtlab and Simulink for system modeling *preferred
Proficiency in system/mechatronic development *preferred
Proficiency in calibration methods and tools *preferred
Experience in rapid prototyping tools *preferred
Proficiency with CAN and support tools *preferred
Proficiency in statistical methods for data analysis
Travel to support customer and product development *preferred
