Essential duties and responsibilities
Provides technical expertise, assistance, training, and resources to customers, associates, legal, engineering, and management as needed (i.e., anticipation, recognition, evaluation, control, and minimization of occupational injury or disease conditions to ensure employee safety and legal liability)
Develops data tracking mechanisms and maintains data to keep the facility’s visual safety management programs current
Advises plant management on proactive and reactive safety initiatives. Conducts job safety analysis, machine guarding, ergonomic and other assessments to make recommendations for corrective actions to mitigate risk
Works closely together with plant, operations and facility managers to actively identify, control, minimize, mitigate and/or remove risks in site’s day to day operations
Responsible for managing the facility’s Workers Compensation and Modified Duty programs.
Determines OSHA recordability and maintains the facility’s OSHA required documents, i.e. 300, 300A and 301
Collect data and prepare environmental, health and safety reports, such as air emissions, hazard waste, storm water, tier II and accident/incident reports
Participate in and facilitate HS&E audits, front-end process engineering events focusing on risk assessment, evaluation of new processes, and review of facility layouts for potential HS&E issues.
Oversees industrial hygiene activities including but not limited to noise, hazardous material sampling, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) review and PPE assessments, etc.
Develops customized safety communications for the facility (e.g., Newsletters, Safety Alerts, etc.)

CERTIFICATIONS/ACCREDITATIONS
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH) strongly preferred
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years health and safety experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Minimum 5 years management experience
Experience reviewing and interpreting industry regulations and developing facility strategies to support personnel safety and compliance
Microsoft Excel - intermediate to advanced skills required
Microsoft Access experience strongly preferred

EDUCATION
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree under unique circumstances.
