General Summary:
Unum is hiring for a passionate & driven Sr. Product Manager / Owner with an Agile mindset to help innovate and execute product initiatives for Unum Group. This is a highly visible role that will work with several journey teams coalescing the work into a more strategic & holistic enterprise approach, leading product strategy and working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver new products and services as well as enhancements and modifications. In this role you will own & execute on the roadmap, driving the end-to-end consumer experience ideating and defining features, collaborating closely with IT, the business, and senior leadership teams. Additionally, you will ensure operational readiness and mobilize the right people to prepare the business to effectively accept, use and support new capabilities before they are delivered to production.
Job Specifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, master’s degree preferred
Experience in product development of consumer facing digital assets like portals, mobile, texting etc.
5-7 years of Product Owner experience using agile methodologies (defining product backlog, ensuring product prioritization, backlog grooming for epics, features, and user stories, successful delivery of product features to business and customers)
Demonstrable written and communication capabilities with experience working with Sr. business and IT stakeholders (executive level and above) on a regular basis
2 – 3 years’ experience working with technology teams using agile/Safe practices (standup, retro, grooming, demo
2 – 3 years of demonstrable experience developing & executing on product roadmaps
2+ years of experience leveraging data to make decisions and track product/feature performance and value
Strong technical understanding of architecture, solutions, and technology
Experience in Advertising, Marketplace, Enterprise Tech, or similar businesses required
Demonstrates elevated levels of ownership and accountability. Self-starter and ability to effectively chart a path forward in ambiguous situations.
Demonstrates the ability to champion change and support teams through change.
Able to effectively coach, mentor, and identify and address skill needs and gaps for continuous improvement of self and team.
Product Owner certification preferred (PSPO and/or CSPO)
Preferred experience with financial acumen on ROI, NPV, Value drivers and sources of value
Principal Responsibilities:
Contributes to business case development and cost benefit analysis and ensures IT delivery roadmap is aligned to the strategic 1–2-year product roadmap
Influence’s business partners and secures buy in to opportunities reflected on the product roadmap
Designs and adjusts product and adoption KPIs as product matures and derives cascading metrics down through to the development and delivery activities
Heavily influences prioritization of short- and long-term product roadmap based on continuous integration of client feedback
Accountable for digital adoption strategy, partnering with operational leaders to drive product utilization
Drives development, through partnership with UX, of continuously updated client personas based on evolving market and client needs.
Operates as a client experience expert within the product management organization.
Translates client needs from discovery into product backlog work items
Builds and maintains an updated and prioritized product backlog
Leads and fully optimizes methodology adoption outlined in product Customer Journey
Maintain and model best practices on a set of tactical agile techniques in relation to work decomposition, planning, estimation, backlog tooling, status reporting
Industry analysis of trends, technology and market advancements and demonstrated application into our context
Ensures operational readiness efforts are in place as new technology-driven capabilities are moved to production environments.
Track progress of work towards agreed timelines for deliverables to ensure the health and progress of the holistic delivery roadmap. Adjusting and communicating changes to timelines with review of impacts from changes
