Your Role

As a Data Scientist, you will be expected to ideate and partner with asset managers directly to build solutions and products that move the needle for Invesco. This position will be well-suited for someone who is a dreamer and executer, who values speed and innovation. You will be able to work from any US Invesco location.

You will join a fast-paced agile development team building the latest in innovative and disruptive technologies for asset management leveraging the power of big data. In this position you’ll get to envision and develop cutting edge Financial Technologies (aka FinTech) that will contribute to innovation growth for Invesco and the greater financial ecosystem. You’ll be expected to use your quantitative background to develop machine learning and predictive analytics use cases in the investments space and build advanced machine learning models to create competitive advantage for our investment teams.

You will be responsible for:

Bring ML ideas within asset management to the table. Ideate, collaborate with investors and your team to transform ideas into tools.
Perform machine learning/statistical analysis methods, such as deep learning, classification, collaborative filtering, association rules, sentiment analysis, topic modeling, time-series analysis, regression, statistical inference, & validation methods
Analyze and model structured data using advanced machine learning methods and implement algorithms and software needed to perform analyses
Perform ad-hoc analysis on new datasets and present results in a clear manner
Perform data analysis, generate and test working hypotheses, prepare and analyze historical data to identify patterns
Collaborate with design thinking approach to ideate with product owners on ML solutions built for Invesco asset managers
Work with data engineers and ML engineers to move models into ML pipelines for automations

The experience you bring:

5+ years of experience with machine learning
5+ years of experience in a role entailing statistical or quantitative analysis
Asset management industry experience is preferred
Solid understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.
Knowledge of market microstructures and macroeconomic theories, econometric forecasting; capital markets and investments; risk & return; asset pricing, pricing models, and financial engineering; efficient market hypothesis, inefficient markets, and behavioral finance; portfolio theory; mathematics of high frequency finance and algorithmic trading desired
Excellent applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
Strong predictive analytics experience with Python or R
Experience with data and machine learning services using Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and / or Google Cloud
Strong written and verbal communication skills along with good interpersonal skills to work with business partners
