Description

Under close supervision, maintain the performance of the Plant Control System (PCS) by identifying and reporting poor performing process areas and process automation components or platforms.
 

Identify and report poor performing processes by having process understanding of hydrometallurgy (leaching, solve extraction, and electro winning) and/or mineral processing (comminution, flotation, and solid/liquid separation)
Identify and report poor performing discrete, continuous or advanced control, controller equipment and software issues, and HMI problems
Identify and report faulty process instrumentation by having understanding of basic sensors and actuation
Identify and report issues with PCS communication and plant historians
Identify and report issues with alarm management by having understanding of alarm philosophy and alarm performance metrics
Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED and (4) four years of Engineering experience relevant to process automation, OR
Bachelor's degree in a Scientific discipline

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Solid background in Rockwell Automation Products such as CompactLogix, ControlLogix, Communication/Networking
Proficiency in Factory/Talk Enterprise, Alarm creation and management, HMI development
Proficiency in Rockwell Automation PLC code development such as Ladder Logic, Function Block, Produce/Consume, and Add On Instructions
Knowledge of building Workstations and Servers
Knowledge of Networking, DLR Rings and REP Rings

 

Criteria/Conditions:

Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms
Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday
Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
