The Applications Development Engineer – HSHF PCBs is tasked with creating, leading, and performing test plans related to fabrication of High Speed, High Frequency (HSHF), rigid and hybrid laminate printed circuit board (PCB) materials.  As part of a team, they will focus on the technical and engineering challenges faced by OEMs, Tier 1 manufacturers, and fabricators in high growth areas such as 5G Telecom/Datacenters and Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).  He/she will work alongside research and development and application development team members at DuPont and counterparts at key OEMs and PCB Fabricators to solve technical challenges as part of a total solutions DuPont team.  She/he will serve as a key member of the applications development team working on the HSHF Rigid Laminates Market Enabled Initiative (MEI) supporting the development of new products at DuPont.

He/she will create, lead, and perform specific test plans related to all aspects of mechanical and processing performance of high-performance laminate materials.  They must be comfortable doing their own lab work and working with others on a team.  She/he must understand the performance characteristics of electronic materials and the physical properties required to construct printed circuit boards using standard industrial techniques.  He/she must understand design principles as they apply to HSHF PCBs.  If capabilities do not reside within DuPont facilities to test or construct test boards, they will be comfortable and knowledgeable about outside board shops where they can contract the work to be done in a timely and efficient fashion.  She/he will often be working across many different engineering and technology disciplines and be expected to teach others and learn from others.

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

5-10 years’ experience in a fabrication shop producing rigid, rigid-flex, and hybrid PCBs

B.S. in a technical degree

Ability to communicate technical topics in writing and speaking.

Ability to work and contribute to a high performing team

Must know why listening to understand rather than respond will make you a better teammate 

Intellectual curiosity coupled with a strong drive towards execution

Self-starter and comfortable working with ambiguity

Willingness to travel 20% of the time

QUALIFICATIONS - DESIRED

Experience working with OEMs, Tier 1s, fabricators and materials suppliers (highly desirable)
