Job Description

Responsibilities:

Work from approved standard and special procedures.
Perform simple or routine maintenance activities based on skills and knowledge attained from training and previous experience.
Obtain guidance from more experienced or higher grade level mechanics and supervision when the condition warrants.
Follow/comply with applicable Safety and Radiological Control policies and procedures.
Assemble simple mechanical apparatus from material and parts following instructions.
Perform simple mechanical tasks such as painting, tool crib custodian, basic carpentry, safety inspections, carpet installation, ceiling tile installation, repacking valves and minor piping repair.
Assist more experienced and higher grade level mechanics with the installation, inspection and maintenance of moderately complex mechanical equipment, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems and allied equipment.
Operate motorized vehicles and associated equipment within licensing limits.
Perform incidental rigging on equipment once trained and qualified.
Perform administrative functions such as read work order instructions and procedures. Complete paperwork associated with work orders to document work performance.
Other administrative functions as needed to perform job.
Perform work functions such as attend and successfully complete classroom, on-the-job training, lectures, seminars and other forms of training.
Meets the physical requirements for the essential job duties, which may include being able to handle 50 pounds, climbing, bending, twisting, exposure to extreme temperatures, wearing protective clothing/equipment (including respiratory) and meeting Rad Con requirements.
Performs simple or routine maintenance activities based on skills and knowledge attained from training and previous experience.
Other duties as assigned by supervision. 

Additional Information:

Relocation benefits are not available for these positions.
Selected candidates must also pass the Maintenance Unit skills test administered by the Site Maintenance Training personnel.

The Entry Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic (grade 16) serves as the training position for Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic (grade 18) and Senior Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic (grade 20) positions.

Experienced Applicants:
If qualified by experience or training as defined by the established job descriptions, candidates may be considered for Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic (Grade 18), or Senior Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic (Grade 20) levels. There are additional minimum requirements for experience and training. Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, all applicants must meet the listed requirements (below) by providing resumes and test scores with their applications.  

Associate Degree in one of the following or equivalent: Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Machine Technology, General Technology

OR

High School Diploma or GED ?and four (4) years of related experience/training equivalent to qualification standards

Savannah River Remediation LLC, a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract.
