Driver - Crude (Night Shift)

Job Description

General Duties and Responsibilities

Driving

Opens up the station/meter, etc. if 1st driver at the station.
Performs the day-to-day transportation of crude oil.
Verifies quality of oil at each station and either accepts or rejects the load based on quality.
Verifies quantity delivered/picked up is accurate.
Performs “grindouts” on each and every load.
Gauges the tank for temperature, gravity, top-bottom gauge and BS&W.
Inputs data into the appropriate fields of the PeopleNet (i.e. mileage, engine meter, fuel) or on the paper ticket if necessary.
Transmits gauging and load data via TMW or paper ticket if necessary.
Verifies the offload station and net barrels are correct on the ticket.
Follows established safety P&P (Policies & Procedures) for loading and offloading of crude.
Completes the station log, if 1st driver at the offload station.
Records notes electronically (from TMW) or calls Dispatch. Never writes on the electronically generated (from TMW) run tickets.
Completes end of shift on PeopleNet/TMW equipment and powers down PeopleNet/TMW equipment display.
Calls Dispatch for additional loads if there is time left in the day or loads that are not completed.
Calls ADM immediately for new leads and opportunities, to report a LACT station that is down, mechanical issues with PeopleNet or the truck/trailer, for better directions to lease(s), for tank, lease or legals issues (i.e. new leases, incorrect increments, non-strapped or non-labeled tanks, incorrect county, legals are not built-in).
Discards electronically generated DVIR and run tickets if there are no mechanical and no PeopleNet/TMW communication issues (i.e. communication at the end of the day).
Notifies Dispatch personnel if a LACT is down.
Notifies Dispatch personnel daily of missed loads or other issues (i.e. non-completion due to truck issues).
Provides highest level of customer service to all pumpers and owners.
Trains new hires as required.
Turns in driver logs, paper run tickets and any paper DVIRs (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports) daily to District Administrative Assistant.
Turns in all run tickets to District Administrative Assistant daily.
Ensures that paperwork is neat and turned in on-time.

Safety:

Follows / has a strict adherence to all safety P&P (Policies & Procedures).
Drives cautious and carefully, yet efficiently based on P&P (Policies & Procedures).
Consistently follows and understands laws and DOT regulations.

Truck / Equipment Maintenance:

Completes the DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report) accurately at start and end of shift, including proper use when there is a repair (a red or yellow tag) that needs to be completed and reports that information to the Mechanic.
Reviews the truck and trailer (equipment) constantly and consistently throughout the day for maintenance issues.
Ensures all equipment is taken care of appropriately.
Ensures that their truck is cleaned and well maintained.
Follows-up with Mechanic to ensure all appropriate mechanical issues for appropriate equipment (i.e. PeopleNet, truck, or trailer) have been resolved.
Inspects and maintains grease points on equipment.

Regular attendance at the worksite is required. 

Position Qualifications:  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge of Hazardous Materials Transport Industry.
Working Knowledge of DOT regulations and procedures.
Ability to effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in writing.
Neat, clean, professional appearance and presentation required for customer relations.

Experience/Education:

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Class A CDL driver, is preferred.
Requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Tanker and Hazardous Materials endorsements. 
Requires a valid DOT Medical card.

Travel:

Up to 100% travel required.  Requires the ability to travel to field locations where environment may vary significantly.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work requires physical efforts associated with using the computer and phones to access information.
