Position Summary: 

The Transportation Analyst I is to provide support to the Transportation department which provides Over the Road service to Royal Building Products.   The primary function of this role is to support the department with its administrative functions such as Freight Audit and Vouchering of Shipments in the Transportation Management System (TMS) in conjunction with data spreadsheets. In addition, this role will provide support to the Transportation Planners, assisting with the tendering of shipments to carriers in TMS, and the planning of the transportation service for various equipment types and shipment types (LTL, Truckload and Intermodal). The Transportation Analyst I will also provide support to the Transportation Supervisor, and will work regularly with Royal’s Business’ Service Group and the IS department, as well as with transport carriers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide assistance to the Transportation Planners including arrange transportation service with carriers, tendering shipments in TMS, assist with vouchering of shipments for Royal Building Products facilities, maintenance of shipment logs, working with the Customer Service, Shipping, IS and Business Services Group.

Manage transportation freight expenses to minimize the administrative processes related to audit and approval of carrier invoices.  Emphasis is placed on using TMS to audit and voucher all possible freight invoices.  Develop efficient processes for managing manual freight invoices producing the lowest possible administrative effort while achieving the necessary audit requirements.  Provide ongoing support in migration of new carriers to automated freight payment using TMS.  Assist the Transportation Supervisor planning with functions directly related to TMS maintenance such as adding carriers to the network, rate entry, freight payment, and other related duties.

Education and Experience:

Logistics experience an asset
Proficient with complete Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) and PC skills
Experience with Saas TMS experience an asset
ERP experience an asset
CITT or equivalent professional designation in transportation an asset
Bilingualism an asset (English / French)
